JOB DESCRIPTION

Capital Infrastructure Group Inc., a prominent player in the contracting and construction sector across North America, is in search of a Senior Accountant to enhance its financial team.

This position is perfect for a motivated finance expert with a robust accounting background who is eager to expand their expertise and gain significant exposure within a rapidly evolving organization. This role offers the chance to refine your skills and advance your career. This is a full-time role based in Vaughan, Ontario, reporting directly to the Controller.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee monthly accounting closure processes and deliverables (journal entries, reconciliations, reports) in accordance with GAAP standards.
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations and necessary journal entries.
  • Generate monthly financial statements and reports with supporting schedules, including a comparison and analysis of actual results against budget and forecasts.
  • Assist with both external and internal audit processes.
  • Engage in the budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Support tax filing by preparing regulatory tax documents and assisting with annual audits, assurance, and tax engagements.
  • Prepare and submit HST returns.
  • Contribute to ad hoc projects and additional responsibilities within the accounting department.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting and actively pursuing CPA certification.
  • A minimum of 4 years of professional accounting experience, including internal and external financial reporting.
  • Experience in the construction sector with knowledge of percentage of completion accounting.
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen with advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • A quick learner with a commitment to high standards, capable of adapting to new software systems and tools.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • A collaborative team player who can multitask and take initiative.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience with established accounting software is highly desirable.
