About the Role:
This position performs a variety of skilled mechanical maintenance and repair duties on various types of equipment, buildings, and grounds in consultation with the Facility maintenance site lead and in accordance with accepted standards, regulations, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge to operate building automation systems, boilers, chiller, refrigeration equipment, and other mechanical equipment
- Knowledge of plumbing installation and repair
- Knowledge of door hardware and locks
- Demonstrate the ability to work well with others and independently
- Understands the importance of confidentiality
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Maintenance management systems (MMS)
About the Team:
The Maintenance Worker III has frequent physical demands, including extensive standing, walking, bending, and lifting of heavy equipment and supplies.
Job Requirements:
- Completion of post-secondary education in a related field and/or 1 year specialized/technical training in a related field OR 5th Class Power Engineer Certificate as per ABSA kW rating guidelines or AHS standards where boiler support is necessary
- Possession of a valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications:
- A 4th class Power Engineering certificate is preferred
- One year of experience in building automation systems
- One year of Health Care facility experience is desired
- Knowledge of building maintenance and repair
- Able to operate grounds equipment
- Knowledge of Infectious control measures within a hospital is desired
