Position Summary
We are currently seeking a proactive and results-oriented Project & Control Engineer/Officer to become a vital part of our Corporate Project Controls team. This role offers a hybrid work model, allowing for flexibility in your work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a key member of the project team, facilitating and steering the Front-End Planning Process.
- Develop a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) based on the defined scope of work.
- Create, manage, and ensure the accuracy of project schedules.
- Conduct monthly updates on schedules and perform cost analyses.
- Oversee cost management in alignment with OPG's project governance standards.
- Establish and maintain necessary source systems (e.g., AS9, EcoSys, ePMX) and ensure their integration with project control systems throughout the project lifecycle.
- Generate project metrics reports and conduct variance analyses, identifying deviations from approved budgets or schedules and recommending corrective measures.
- Prepare a comprehensive Risk Management plan with input from project team members.
- Produce and distribute timely project status updates.
- Develop and maintain schedules at the program level.
- Process changes through established change control protocols.
- Facilitate the project financial closeout process.
- Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of PMO processes and procedures.
- Assist in the development and improvement of the project controls information system.
- Maintain a comprehensive project file that provides an auditable trail throughout the project lifecycle.
- A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or Business.
- Possession of a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE) certification is advantageous.
- 6 to 8 years of experience in project planning, scheduling, risk management, and control services.
- Strong understanding of project control principles, including scoping, risk management, estimating, budgeting, and scheduling.
- Proficient in using Primavera P6.
- Experience in cost control, including knowledge of earned value management.
- Background in managing multi-disciplinary and long-term projects/programs.
- Familiarity with the dynamics of organizational units and the resolution of complex issues.
- Experience in project management within a Nuclear, Hydroelectric, or Thermal generating facility.
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with team members.
- Comfortable with various computer systems and software applications.
- Adaptable to a flexible hybrid office environment.
