Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Administrative Assistant to join our team at Nova Scotia Community College. The successful candidate will provide administrative support to our team, ensuring the smooth operation of our office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage budgets and trial balances, creating flyers for advertising workshops, managing workshop participants' payments/receipts, managing website, managing workshop room bookings, managing center resources and tracking resource loans.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, answering inquiries and responding to requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assist with the planning and coordination of training workshops, including preparing materials and ensuring all necessary resources are available.
  • Develop and maintain accurate records and reports, including tracking participant data and monitoring workshop attendance.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
  • Perform other administrative duties as required.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary certificate or diploma in Business or Administrative Professional/Office Administration combined with a minimum of two years' recent and related experience in a fast-paced office environment.
  • Or recognized equivalency of a high school diploma with significant (10+) years of administrative experience.
  • Occupational experience that includes early childhood education would be considered an asset.
  • Occupational experience in the following areas would be considered an asset:
  • Front-line customer service role in a post-secondary institution.
  • Operating Point of Sale systems.
  • Handling cash, debit, and credit card transactions.
  • Familiarity with and comfort using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook/email and Microsoft Teams.
  • Experience in training/facilitation preparation would be considered an asset.
  • Experience supporting/providing service to students and prospective students would be considered an asset.
