Electrical Superintendent Job Overview

As an Electrical Superintendent at Kiewit, you will play a crucial role in the success of our construction projects. You will be responsible for overseeing the electrical aspects of our projects, ensuring that they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.


Key Responsibilities
  • Mentor and develop junior superintendents to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in their roles.
  • Review and approve labor rates for foremen, journeymen, and laborers to ensure they are fair and reasonable.
  • Manage contract administration, including meetings with subcontractors and field staff to ensure effective communication and problem resolution.
  • Develop and implement programs to maintain good client relationships, including regular meetings and site visits.
  • Oversee and approve monthly job cost updates and quarterly cash flow projections to ensure that projects are on track financially.
  • Review, approve, and negotiate change orders to ensure that they are fair and reasonable.
  • Develop and implement plans for project completion and turnover, ensuring that all necessary steps are taken to ensure a smooth transition.
  • Maintain daily diaries for record-keeping purposes and ensure that all performance evaluations are completed in a timely manner.
  • Recommend organizational, policy, and procedural changes as needed to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the team.
  • Review and approve or reject promotions up to general foreman level.

Requirements
  • 8+ years of construction experience, with 8+ years in an electrical superintendent or leadership capacity.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to quickly learn and understand various processes, including Kiewit's policies, procedures, and software programs.
  • Excellent organizational, administrative, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong experience in leadership, safety, negotiations, planning, and contract administration.
  • Functional knowledge of English (written and verbal) is considered an asset, as mobility across provinces in Canada is required.
