Job Summary

The Government of the Northwest Territories is seeking a highly skilled Senior Accounting Clerk to join their team. As a key member of the finance department, this role will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of transaction processing in the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial transaction processing, with experience in accounts payable and accounts receivable, as well as employee-related compensation and benefits information. They will also possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide seasoned advice to Accounting Clerks and process complex transactions.

This role requires a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The successful candidate will be responsible for transaction processing of unique and specialized transactions, as well as reconciliations of a more complex or time-sensitive nature.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in ensuring the accuracy of transaction processing in the ERP System
  • Provide seasoned advice to Accounting Clerks and process complex transactions
  • Process unique and specialized transactions related to client department specific program needs
  • Reconcile complex or time-sensitive transactions
  • Provide daily support and first-level escalation for transactions of an unusual nature
Requirements

The successful candidate will possess a Grade 12 diploma and post-secondary course financial/accounting courses, or a Business Administration Diploma or Degree. They will also have a minimum of 2 years of directly related full-cycle financial transaction processing experience, as well as 1 year of directly related payroll transaction processing experience.

Additionally, the candidate will have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. They will also possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide seasoned advice to Accounting Clerks and process complex transactions.
