The Role

We are seeking an experienced bilingual paralegal to join our corporate, real estate, and financial services group in our Montréal office. The successful candidate will assist our team of lawyers in their real estate and banking/financial services practice, conducting research, analyzing data, and preparing legal documents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct searches of public databases, including corporate registries, land registries, and court records.
  • Analyze research results and write detailed reports.
  • Prepare legal documents related to banking law, including mortgages, assignments of rank, and write-offs.
  • Coordinate access to information requests to government authorities.
  • Research zoning by-laws and communicate with municipal authorities.
  • Communicate with title insurers and review insurance policies.
  • Prepare legal documents related to real estate law, including deeds of sale and notices of lease.
  • Analyze security documents for publication.
  • Draft transaction documents, such as management certificates and closing agendas.

Requirements

  • High level of writing, understanding, and oral communication in English and French.
  • Diploma of College Studies (D.E.C.) in legal techniques or a certificate in law.
  • Between 4 to 7 years of experience as a paralegal in a real estate and financial services group.
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office suite.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to manage priorities and work with tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to perform multiple tasks quickly and accurately.
