Overview of the Role

As a vital member of our engineering team, the Junior Power Systems Engineer will report directly to the Chief Power Engineer. This position involves a range of responsibilities that are crucial for maintaining the safe, efficient, and uninterrupted operation of our chiller plants, high-pressure steam systems, pressure vessels, and water treatment initiatives, along with all associated auxiliary equipment and building mechanical systems.

The Junior Power Systems Engineer will conduct regular inspections of mechanical rooms and should possess a foundational understanding of various building maintenance trades. This includes oversight of mechanical systems such as medical gas, air, vacuum systems, air handling units, heating systems, and fire water pumping systems. Additionally, this role includes responding to emergency calls during silent hours.

Candidate Profile

  1. Certification as a Standardized Nova Scotia 3rd Class Power Engineer.
  2. A minimum of one year of experience in a high-pressure steam plant and related equipment.
  3. Comprehensive knowledge of boiler, chiller, HVAC operations, and other electrical machinery.
  4. A strong commitment to safety and a proven safety record.
  5. Familiarity with relevant safety regulations.
  6. Proficiency in additional languages is advantageous, with a preference for French.

Work Schedule

This is a permanent, full-time position requiring 75 hours of work bi-weekly.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly wage for this position is $28.39. Successful candidates may qualify for a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance, as well as a defined benefit pension plan. This role is also eligible for a Market Adjustment of approximately $76.92 biweekly, with periodic reviews for eligibility.
