About the Role

The Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board is seeking a highly skilled Child and Youth Worker to join our team. As a Child and Youth Worker, you will play a vital role in providing instructional support to students with diverse needs, promoting academic achievement, and fostering a positive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide academic support to students in various learning situations, including individual and group settings.
  • Assist teachers in delivering academic and social/life skills programs, using effective learning support strategies.
  • Support students in developing social, emotional, and behavioral skills, utilizing Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) techniques.
  • Collaborate with the school team to develop and implement Student Safety Plans, ensuring the well-being and safety of students.
  • Perform various tasks, including toileting, changing, repositioning, and dressing students, as needed.
  • Assist students with mobility, transfer, and lift students using safe techniques and devices.
  • Provide assistance with specialized equipment and assistive technology.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school personnel, maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
Requirements
  • Three-year college diploma or undergraduate University degree as a Child and Youth Worker or equivalent three-year program.
  • One to three years of related experience.
  • Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCVI) Certification - Full Program.
  • A police record check, with a Vulnerable Sector Search and Pardoned Sexual Offenders Database Search dated within six months prior to the date of hire, is a requirement for employment.
