Overview
This Distribution Strategy Analyst role at WestJet combines planning, data analysis, creative thinking, technology, and managerial reporting. We are seeking a dynamic collaborator who is comfortable working across the entire scope of our distribution department, including metas, GDS, and OTA site displays. This position supports decision-making processes by providing market insights, financial modeling, and cross-functional collaboration to create and capture value for WestJet through optimized distribution decisions. In support of WestJet's global initiatives, the Strategy Analyst will leverage a deep understanding of indirect distribution channels and how content impacts success.
Key Responsibilities
- Industry and Competitive Analysis: Promote proactive analysis, insights, and recommendations to steer performance adjustments favorable to WestJet by analyzing market trends and the competitive landscape to inform distribution strategies.
- Risk and Opportunity Identification: Identify risks and opportunities related to distribution initiatives and recommend actions for improvement.
- Presentation Development: Draft stimulus plans complimented with the analytics, forecasting, and cost modeling that complement our business objectives
- Channel Optimization: Develop and implement initiatives to optimize channel margin by improving revenue and/or reducing the cost of sale.
- Channel Design and Implementation: Oversee the design, development, implementation, testing, and validation of changes to indirect booking channels.
- Project Coordination: Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., marketing, sales, IT) to align distribution strategies with overall business goals.
- Regular Reporting: Establish regular reporting including POS (point of sale), sales channel, and overall cost of sale performance.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Support the review and presentation of monthly revenue and performance variances.
- Cross Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with internal teams, including revenue management, IT, sales, and marketing, to ensure cohesive strategies and seamless integration of distribution technologies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Statistics, or Economics is preferred.
- Minimum 4 years in an Analyst type role with a solid understanding of business processes and commercial partnership framework, preferably in an airline environment.
- Understanding of airline fares, rules, taxes, and fees is beneficial.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
