Position Summary:
The Lead Solar Field Service Technician will oversee a team of technicians responsible for the operation and maintenance of large-scale solar energy facilities. This role encompasses both preventive and corrective maintenance of essential equipment, including solar panels, trackers, power inverters, and substation components.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide mentorship and set a positive example for junior technicians.
- Collaborate with senior management to ensure effective plant maintenance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in low voltage DC power systems.
- Diagnose problems in low, medium, and high voltage AC power systems.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on both AC and DC power systems.
- Identify and address faulty or underperforming equipment.
- Utilize hand tools and computerized maintenance management systems effectively.
- Maintain an inventory of spare parts and consumables.
- Develop and implement operational and safety plans for the site.
- Lead daily safety meetings and conduct job hazard analyses.
- Engage with project stakeholders and subcontractors professionally.
- Respond promptly to emergency calls as prioritized by operations.
- Operate company vehicles in compliance with relevant laws and policies.
- Adhere to company policies and maintain regular attendance.
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule for emergency response.
- Promote a culture of safety and quality within the team.
Safety Commitment:
We prioritize safety as the most critical aspect of our operations. The Lead Technician will ensure that all team members adhere to established safety protocols and reinforce safe working behaviors.
Leadership Responsibilities:
The Lead Technician will foster an inclusive workplace, manage direct reports, and participate in the hiring process. Regular communication regarding goals and performance will be maintained to support employee development.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associate's degree in a technical field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant electrical maintenance experience.
- Experience with medium and high voltage electrical systems is essential.
- Proven experience in managing or leading field technicians.
- Valid Driver's License is required.
- Ability to commute within a 60-mile radius of the work site.
- Willingness to travel occasionally (5-15%).
- OSHA 10/30 certification is preferred.
- FAA Part 107 Drone Pilot certification is a plus.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
