STATUS: Full Time
Position Overview:
The Electronic Resources and Reference Librarian serves as the library's primary contact for various academic departments, particularly in STEM disciplines, providing reference services and information literacy training. This role involves creating instructional resources in diverse formats and enhancing subject-specific collections. The individual will collaborate with a dedicated Reference and Instruction team to develop innovative, user-centered library services. Additionally, the librarian will oversee the acquisition and management of the library's electronic resources collection. This is a full-time, 12-month non-tenure track faculty position reporting to the Head of Research and Instruction Services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and evaluate information literacy instruction for a variety of undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs through multiple instructional formats, including in-person, hybrid, and online synchronous and asynchronous methods.
- Create instructional materials, research guides, and digital tutorials.
- Act as the library's liaison to academic departments, including STEM fields such as Pharmacy and Engineering, to support collection development and instructional requirements.
- Conduct in-depth research consultations with students and faculty.
- Perform general reference duties, including one evening per week and some weekends. Manage electronic resource acquisitions for Wiggins Memorial Library and the Curriculum Materials Media Center.
- Review and negotiate licensing agreements with publishers and vendors, collaborating with the University's General Counsel as necessary.
- Coordinate and resolve access-related issues, responding to patron and staff inquiries, and working with library and vendor personnel to address access challenges.
- Participate in library and university committees as assigned.
- Engage actively in professional development through continuous learning and presentations, representing Campbell University at local, regional, and national levels.
- Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance at all times.
- Adhere to all Campbell University policies and procedures, including but not limited to Title IX and Information Security, such as FERPA and other relevant state and federal regulations.
- Other job-related duties and responsibilities may be assigned by the Head of Research and Instruction Services or the Dean of the Library as needed.
Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution.
- An undergraduate or graduate degree in a STEM field, or relevant professional experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated understanding of information resources in science, technology, and engineering is preferred.
- Knowledge of current issues, emerging pedagogical trends, and best practices in information literacy instruction and assessment is preferred.
- Experience in electronic resource acquisition and management is preferred.
- Experience in higher education is preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong interpersonal, oral, written, and digital communication skills.
- Familiarity with instructional and presentation techniques across various media and formats.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a diverse team environment.
- Innovative and forward-thinking.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, as well as standard digital communication methods.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new and emerging technologies.
- Flexibility and readiness to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Availability to work occasional evenings and/or weekends.
- This position requires integrity, accuracy, and the ability to align with the Christian mission of Campbell University.
