We are seeking a highly skilled Procurement Specialist I to join our Satellite Systems team at our Montreal office. As a trusted mission partner to the global space industry, MDA Space is a leader in communications satellites, Earth and space observation, and space exploration and infrastructure.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the procurement of materials and services, including negotiation and purchasing of material and services that are simple in nature, with due consideration of cost, quality and delivery within the specified limits and in accordance with the signing levels identified.
The Procurement Specialist I will be responsible for:
- Receiving and analyzing MRP messages and taking appropriate actions
- Negotiating prices and terms with suppliers
- Analyzing received quotes and placing purchase orders within established limits of authority
- Performing follow-up activities on purchase order and shipment tracking information to ensure on-time deliveries
- Proactively reporting material availability issues
- Preparing and communicating procurement plans or forecasts to suppliers
- Understanding market trends of assigned commodities
- Resolving receiving and invoicing discrepancies
- Reviewing and implementing engineering change notices for items included in the assigned commodities
- Supporting Sales and Engineering inquiries on material availability and costs
- Monitoring and maintaining the Supply Chain related Item Master Data for items included in the assigned commodities
- Contributing to process improvement and lean initiatives related to items included in assigned commodities
- Assisting with new supplier development and qualification
- Reviewing monthly suppliers performance and defining corrective action plan if required
- Representing the company in meetings with sales representatives of current/future suppliers
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a business-related area, PMAC enrollment or certification in progress or complete, and 2 years of relevant experience. Some understanding of Export Control Regulations and experience in procurement of electronic components is also required. The candidate must be fluent in French and English (verbal and written).
