About Our Opportunity

As a key member of the Government of Nova Scotia's team, the Risk Analyst plays a critical role in assisting the Manager of Insurance and Risk Management in developing and implementing the province's overall risk management and loss prevention strategy. This involves identifying and assessing strategic and operational risks to recommend loss protection programs that mitigate exposures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the insurance policies and self-insurance programs for the province, ensuring adequate limits and coverages.
  • Liaise with insurance brokers on renewals and endorsements.
  • Review insurance certificates for coverage adequacy and advise on contractual wordings related to public tenders.
  • Research and provide trending analysis as it relates to claims history, providing advice for ongoing risk mitigation.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field with a minimum of five years of experience, or a Master's degree in business administration or a related field and three years of related experience.
  • Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) or Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker (CAIB) or Canadian Risk Management (CRM) designation is required.
  • Must have and maintain a valid class 5 driver's license.
  • At the cost of the Crown, the incumbent shall submit a satisfactory criminal record check and current driver's abstract before hire.
