Position Overview

As a Telecommunications Technician at Horizon Canada Inc, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the seamless operation of our telecommunications systems. Your expertise will be essential in diagnosing and resolving equipment issues, as well as maintaining high standards of service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Education: Completion of secondary (high) school graduation certificate is required.
  • Experience: A minimum of 1 year to less than 2 years in a related field.
  • Technical Duties:
    • Diagnose and identify faults in telecommunications equipment and perform necessary adjustments, replacements, or repairs.
    • Conduct inspections to ensure the proper functioning of telecommunications systems.
    • Install, configure, and maintain telephone equipment, wiring, and related hardware.
    • Repair or replace malfunctioning telephone equipment as needed.
    • Test and troubleshoot installed telephone systems to identify transmission issues.
    • Analyze testing results and make adjustments or repairs to switching systems, networks, and associated software.
    • Document and maintain comprehensive test and service reports.
    • Determine the nature and location of equipment troubles.
    • Install various telecommunications systems, including electromechanical, analog, and digital trunking systems.
    • Provide guidance and instruction to apprentices.
    • Utilize computerized testing systems to perform service tests on customer lines and equipment.
    • Manage cable outlets by connecting, disconnecting, and relocating as necessary.
    • Assign work tasks effectively.
    • Install cable modems and related software to facilitate Internet access.

  • Requires attention to detail and the ability to distinguish between colors.
  • Physical demands include a combination of sitting, standing, and walking, along with bending, crouching, and kneeling.
