About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Planning Analyst to join our team at Algonquin College. As a key member of our Office of Strategy and Planning, you will play a critical role in contributing to the effectiveness of our organization through strategic analysis, strategic planning coordination, data management, and communications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect and organize status updates on strategic initiatives from the Business Plan, ensuring timely and accurate information is available to stakeholders.

  • Develop and maintain data dashboards to showcase key performance indicators and organizational targets, providing insights to inform decision-making.

  • Monitor the status of Operating Plan initiatives, including approval status, project health, progress, issues, and impact, to ensure alignment with strategic goals.

  • Collect and organize metrics on key performance indicators, providing data-driven insights to support strategic planning and decision-making.

  • Maintain an inventory of College strategic plans, goals, and objectives, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.

  • Demonstrate the alignment between strategic activities and goals, identifying gaps and areas for improvement.

  • Provide project management support to strategic planning and strategy development activities, ensuring timely and effective delivery.

  • Develop and maintain project schedules, identifying and mitigating delays to ensure project milestones are met.

  • Organize primary strategic engagement activities, including surveys, focus groups, and interviews, to gather insights and feedback from stakeholders.

  • Develop and maintain communications to project stakeholders, ensuring timely and effective information sharing.

  • Collect and analyze primary and secondary strategic research on the post-secondary education environment, providing insights to inform strategic planning and decision-making.

  • Develop benchmarking reports on key topics and data in post-secondary education, providing recommendations to College leadership.

  • Stay up-to-date on creative and innovative initiatives in post-secondary education, identifying opportunities to enhance strategic competitiveness and mitigate corporate risk.

  • Organize and maintain the Office website, ensuring accurate and timely information is available to stakeholders.

  • Develop and maintain effective and visually-appealing presentations and reports for internal and external audiences.

  • Develop and maintain process documentation for internal audiences, ensuring clear and concise information is available.

  • Share status of project portfolios and data dashboards with internal audiences, ensuring timely and effective information sharing.

Requirements

  • Four (4) year degree or equivalent in Business, Project Management, Strategic Management, Portfolio Management, or Business Intelligence.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in progressively independent and responsible positions in strategic planning and/or portfolio management, some of which at a post-secondary educational organization.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with colleagues and leadership.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate risks.

  • Well-developed verbal and writing skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex information to various audiences.

  • Very effective organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize.

  • Good knowledge of College programs, academic, administrative, and organizational structures, including the College decision-making process.

  • Proven team player, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders.

  • Advanced proficiency with SharePoint and MS Office software, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Some knowledge of WordPress, Visio, PowerBI, and Project (or equivalent) would be an asset.
