Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team as a Project Lead. As a key member of our Buildings group, you will be responsible for leading mechanical design on small to large projects of medium to high complexity, and through all phases of a project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the day-to-day execution of various sized projects, ensuring timely completion and high-quality results.
- Act as a technical advisor and guide staff on solutions for projects, providing guidance and mentoring to strengthen technical abilities.
- Develop and implement building system designs through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
- Provide markups for junior engineers/designers to produce CAD drawings, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare and revise documentation in various mechanical phases, including site plans, floor plans, diagrams, and details.
- Lead project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors.
- Participate in client project requirement meetings, value analysis, and basic cost estimating.
- Prepare and coordinate project specifications with construction documents.
- Develop project scope, budgets, and design approach for all size projects.
- Assist with the development of proposals for smaller, less complex projects.
- Requires strong HVAC design skills, with plumbing and fire protection design experience considered an asset.
- Requisite knowledge, interpretation, and application of mechanical and/or plumbing codes, energy codes, ASHRAE standards, and other building codes and standards.
- Strong understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
- Ability to lead one or more teams through all phases of project document production.
- Checks the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manages time to meet project budget and schedule.
- Participates and collaborates in project team settings, engaging in creative and critical thought.
- Knowledge of and experience with high-performance and sustainable building practices.
- Demonstrates creativity, foresight, and mature engineering judgment in anticipating and solving problems.
- Ability to travel as required for projects, such as client meetings and site reviews.
- Ability to qualify for security clearance based on client requirements.
- Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Experience with Newforma, Integrated Environmental Solutions (IES), Trane Trace considered an asset.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering & Licensed Professional Engineer in Nova Scotia.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience.
- LEED Green Associate or LEED AP BD C considered an asset. Experience working on large healthcare projects considered an asset.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements, including inclement weather.
