Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Trainmaster to lead our operations team and ensure the safe and efficient execution of our Operating Plan. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supervising operating crews, Yardmasters, and support staff to achieve our service, safety, and productivity goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of operating crews, Yardmasters, and support staff to ensure safe and efficient train operations.
  • Monitor and analyze safety, service, and productivity metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Investigate safety incidents and develop action plans to prevent future occurrences.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of operating crew members.
  • Manage inventory and rail car utilization to optimize asset utilization.
  • Participate in derailment and incident investigations and provide recommendations for improvement.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; previous railway experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to obtain necessary certifications and licenses.
  • Ability to analyze complex issues, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Knowledge of Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR) and ability to interpret and apply them.
