Company: Tendencys Innovations is in search of a Board Certified PhD Clinical Laboratory Scientist specializing in Genetic and Genomic Diagnostics, Cytogenetics, or Molecular Genetics to enhance our Genetics and Genomics division. Our organization is a frontrunner in laboratory medicine, delivering extensive laboratory services across Alberta.

Role Overview:

As a Clinical Laboratory Geneticist, you will play a pivotal role in our medical and scientific leadership team. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing genetic testing and analysis on patient samples utilizing various methodologies such as PCR, DNA/RNA sequencing, gene panels, and cytogenetic analysis.
  • Interpreting intricate genetic data, including the identification of genetic mutations, variants, and chromosomal anomalies pertinent to patient diagnoses.
  • Collaborating with medical specialists and genetic counselors to incorporate genetic insights into patient care strategies.
  • Ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and quality assurance protocols within the clinical laboratory.
  • Keeping abreast of advancements in clinical genetics and molecular diagnostics to improve testing precision and efficiency.
  • Engaging in research and development initiatives aimed at refining genetic testing techniques and broadening test offerings.
  • Providing education and mentorship to medical students, residents, clinical fellows, and laboratory staff, with opportunities for classroom instruction.

This position will report to the Provincial Medical/Scientific Director and will work closely with the Molecular Genetics Lab Head to guide daily operations. Opportunities for cross-coverage in genetics laboratories may arise based on operational requirements and the successful candidate's qualifications and interests.

Qualifications:

Required: A Ph.D. in Genetics or a related discipline along with board certification in Genetic and Genomic Diagnostics, Cytogenetics, or Molecular Genetics from a recognized institution. Candidates who are board eligible will also be considered.

Additional Qualifications: Candidates should possess strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with a focus on leadership development and effective communication. Experience in quality assurance and operational efficiency is essential.

Preferred: Preference will be given to candidates with a minimum of two years of relevant experience and dual board certification in molecular and cytogenetics, as well as those with demonstrated clinical and academic expertise.
