Machinist Job Description

At Canadian Pacific Railway, we are seeking a skilled Machinist to join our team. As a Machinist, you will play a critical role in setting up and operating various machine tools to precision cut, mill, turn, bore, drill, or grind metal and similar materials into parts or products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts, and tables to determine machining operations and plan the best sequence of operations.
  • Set up, operate, and maintain a variety of machine tools, including computer numerically controlled (CNC) tools, to perform precision, non-repetitive machining operations.
  • Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
  • Report deviations from specifications and tolerances to the supervisor.
  • Complete and maintain inspection reports.
Requirements:
  • An Inter-Provincial Red Seal in the trade of Machinist is required.
  • Strong problem-solving and computer skills.
  • Ability to work within strict established safety and work guidelines/rules to complete the job.
  • Will be required to obtain all CPKC certification pertaining to specific tasks and assignments.
  • Must be able to work on various shifts and days off.
