We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to join our team at William Osler Health System. As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in the Post-Anaesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
Key Responsibilities- Safe Nursing Practice: Ensure safe nursing practice in all aspects of the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
- Compliance with Policies: Comply with policies and procedures associated with observations, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for patients.
- Patient-Centred Care: Provide professional, patient-centred care to ensure patient safety and physiological and psychological well-being, creating a therapeutic relationship and environment.
- Cultural Competence: Provide care in a compassionate and caring manner within a diverse cultural environment, respecting patients' values and beliefs.
- Infection Control: Practice according to infection control and prevention measures, ensuring a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Emergency Situations: Respond to emergency situations by recognizing changes in patient's health status and consulting appropriately when necessary, using transfer of accountability principles.
- Health Teaching: Provide health teaching to patients and families, including thorough discharge instructions to ensure continuity of care in the community.
- Experience: Experience within the last five years, with a minimum of two years in a PACU, emergency, or critical care unit required.
- Specialized Knowledge: Experience with patients requiring ventilator support and hemodynamic monitoring (arterial lines, CVP) required.
- Certifications: Coronary Care I and Coronary Care II or critical care certificate required.
- Preferred Qualifications: Post-anesthetic care nursing course preferred.
- Registration: Current registration, and in good standing, with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Nursing Knowledge: Sound knowledge of nursing process, theory, and responsibilities to the nursing profession.
- Communication Skills: Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, conflict-resolution, and decision-making skills.
- Teamwork: Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of an inter-professional team.
- Patient-Centred Care: Demonstrated knowledge of patient and family-centred care.
- Health Teaching: Demonstrated experience with patient and family health teaching required.
- Leadership: Demonstrated leadership and facilitation skills required.
- Customer Service: Demonstrated excellent customer service, organizational, and critical-thinking skills required.
- Continuous Learning: Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development as it applies to the profession and related field.
- Stress Management: Demonstrated ability to work in a stressful and fast-paced environment.
- Clinical Practice: Exemplary clinical practice within an inter-professional team to develop appropriate strategies for patient care.
- Autonomy: Ability to prioritize patient care needs and make autonomous decisions.
- Physical Assessment: Excellent physical assessment skills required.
- Client Safety: Ability to promote a healthy work environment and practice excellent client safety guidelines.
- Occupational Health and Safety: Knowledge and understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
