Position Overview:

The Deputy Chief of Aircraft Maintenance (DCAM) is responsible for executing elementary, servicing, and maintenance tasks to support the Main Operating Base (MOB).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and assign tasks to team members, leading the crew in all aspects of aircraft maintenance.
  • Contribute to crew shift planning, aircraft maintenance timelines, and the selection of aircraft for operational deployment.
  • Conduct First, Second, and Third Level maintenance on aircraft systems, including mechanical, structural, and electrical components. This encompasses servicing, inspection, removal, cleaning, repair, installation, adjustment, testing, and certification of various aircraft systems and ground support equipment.
  • Perform aircraft release (ARA) duties when trained and authorized.
  • Execute ramp operations, including pre/post flight inspections, marshalling, parking, towing, fueling/defueling, and installation/removal of mission equipment.
  • Conduct ground runs of engines and auxiliary power units, as authorized.
  • Participate in maintenance and ferry operations as required.
  • Be prepared to deploy to other main operating bases or remote sites as necessary.
  • Work shifts as assigned.
  • Provide on-the-job training to fellow employees.
  • Engage in training for professional development and certification.
  • Ensure all team members complete their assigned training.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, conducting foreign object debris (FOD) inspections.
  • Ensure cleanliness in hangar, shop, stores, and office areas.
  • Comply with company policies, procedures, and directives.

Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of aircraft systems, including power plants, flight controls, dynamic systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, environmental systems, basic structures, avionics, and power generation/distribution.
  • Familiarity with Flight Safety reporting protocols.
  • Understanding of Company Quality Systems procedures.
  • Knowledge of corrosion control methods.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as maintenance manuals, work packages, drawings, blueprints, and Standard Plant Procedures.
  • Capability to perform Non-destructive Inspection, where trained and authorized.
  • Proficiency in standard computer applications and any specialized software necessary for the role.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license for operating company vehicles.
  • Completion of a CH149 type maintenance course.
  • Graduation from a recognized aircraft maintenance program or apprenticeship, holding a current Aircraft Maintenance Engineer license or equivalent military experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years in helicopter maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Eligibility for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and Secret Level II Security Clearance.
