Job Summary
The Chief Steward is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing guest services and ensuring a high standard of service on board our vessels. This role requires a strong leader who can manage catering operations, supervise staff, and ensure customer service standards are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise staff engaged in galley, food and beverage, retail, stateroom accommodation, and passenger service
- Assign duties and ensure breaks and rest periods are scheduled
- Assign crew accommodation and check qualifications
- Ensure staff are appropriately attired and adequately trained
- Monitor the level of service provided and ensure customer service standards are met
- Perform administrative duties such as staff time collection, planning and coordinating menus, completing records, reports, and logs
- Conduct regular safety checks of areas used by passengers and catering crew
- Ensure all catering and passenger service equipment is in working order
- Ensure adherence to emergency procedures, company policies, and safe work practices
- Provide information to passengers about ferry schedules, routes, and fares
- Assist and handle passenger complaints and incidents
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience in a leadership role preferably in the food service industry
- Certificate or diploma in business, human resources, or hospitality is an asset
- Valid Seafarer's Medical, Food Safe Level 1, and Serving it Right Certificates are required
