Role Summary
We are seeking a Compliance & Privacy Lawyer (Associate Senior Counsel) to enhance our dynamic team.
As the Associate Senior Counsel, your contributions will be vital in assisting Intact Financial Corporation and its subsidiaries in recognizing and addressing legal, regulatory, compliance, and reputational challenges. You will play a key role in fostering a culture of compliance and ethical conduct, ensuring adherence to all relevant laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as legal counsel for Intact Financial Corporation and its subsidiaries, focusing on compliance and privacy matters.
- Provide expert legal and regulatory advice on compliance and privacy-related initiatives and projects.
- Support various aspects of our compliance framework, including:
- Assisting with regulatory matters, including engagement and reporting.
- Leading and facilitating compliance and privacy training and awareness programs.
- Conducting compliance and privacy risk assessments.
- Actively supporting stakeholders in the investigation, management, and resolution of compliance and privacy incidents.
- Proactively developing and implementing policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Uphold the integrity and values of the organization at all times.
Qualifications:
- Member of the Law Society of Ontario.
- 5 to 8 years of experience in compliance or privacy law within a large in-house legal department or insurance brokerage.
- Exceptional drafting, negotiation, training, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage files independently with minimal oversight.
- Strong judgment and capability to evaluate the practical implications of legal risks.
- Proactive in identifying legal and reputational risks and proposing innovative business solutions.
- Ability to cultivate relationships with business units and stakeholders, influencing decisions at both operational and corporate levels.
- Collaborative mindset with a focus on teamwork.
- Capacity to prioritize and manage multiple files and projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency with technology tools, including a solid working knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Bilingualism (English/French) is required, with the ability to engage with English-speaking clients and colleagues across the country.
- Eligibility to work in Canada is necessary; Canadian work experience is not mandatory.
