Job Summary

Smart Telecom and Automation solutions is seeking a skilled Telecommunications Technician to join our team. As a key member of our installation and maintenance team, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing telecommunications equipment and systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install and maintain telephone equipment, wiring, and associated hardware
  • Diagnose and repair equipment faults, and adjust or replace telecommunications equipment
  • Inspect operation of telecommunications equipment and systems
  • Test installed telephone systems to locate transmission faults and analyze test results
  • Complete and maintain test and service reports
  • Determine nature, cause, and location of trouble and work to resolve issues
  • Install electromechanical, analog, and digital trunking systems, circuits, and equipment in telecommunications central offices and switching centers
  • Operate computerized testing systems to conduct service tests on customer lines and equipment
  • Climb and work aloft on poles, ladders, or other support structures
  • Connect, disconnect, and relocate cable outlets
  • Determine work assignments and prioritize tasks
  • Install cable modems and software to enable Internet access
  • Repair or replace faulty cables, power suppliers, and amplifiers
Requirements
  • College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in telecommunications installation and maintenance
  • Willingness to relocate and work in various locations
  • Ability to climb and work aloft on poles, ladders, or other support structures
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
