Payroll Administrator

Key Information:

  • Minimum of two to three years of experience in payroll administration or a related field is required.
  • Ability to assist with all payroll-related tasks and general office responsibilities.
  • Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with a willingness to work overtime as necessary.
  • Compensation will be based on experience.
  • Health benefits and vacation pay are included.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the processing of timesheets and generate paychecks for a substantial workforce on a weekly basis, including monthly union reports and remittances for union benefits.
  • Implement wage adjustments in accordance with union agreements.
  • Oversee the onboarding process for new hires using our internal software.
  • Record labor hours and reconcile time based on field logs.
  • Administer weekly payroll for union employees.
  • Handle terminations and issue Records of Employment (ROEs) as needed.
  • Complete monthly union remittances.
  • Assist with other accounting tasks related to payroll and employee cost allocation, including general office duties as required.

Experience and Certification Requirements:

  • A minimum of two to three years of payroll administration experience in a unionized setting is essential.
  • Ability to interpret various collective agreements and understand related payroll obligations, along with familiarity with payroll systems.
  • A diploma or post-secondary education in administration is advantageous.
  • Capability to make prompt decisions in a fast-paced environment, where your actions may affect fellow employees.
  • A reliable means of transportation is necessary.
  • Proficient English language skills are required.

Education: A diploma or post-secondary qualification in finance, such as payroll or accounting, is preferred.
