Position Summary

We are currently seeking a Livestock Specialist to join our team. This role is based in our Watertown, WI office and involves comprehensive care for bulls, including feeding, bedding, and general handling. The ideal candidate will possess a solid background in operating agricultural machinery and performing minor maintenance on facilities and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Provide comprehensive care and assist in semen collection for Alta's proven bulls and young sires.
2. Contribute to the semen collection team, focusing on optimizing both the quality and quantity of semen produced.
3. Support daily feeding routines and maintain cleanliness in bull pens.
4. Assist veterinary staff as required.
5. Ensure overall upkeep of equipment, buildings, and surrounding grounds.

Qualifications and Skills

1. Physically fit and capable of performing demanding tasks.
2. Strong dedication to work and reliability.
3. Prior experience in livestock handling is essential.
4. A degree in Animal or Dairy Science is advantageous.
5. Ability to identify health and disease issues in cattle.
6. Basic skills in equipment and building maintenance are necessary.
7. Proficient in Microsoft Office for documentation and communication purposes.
8. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational abilities.
9. Self-driven and capable of working independently.
10. Willingness to work outdoors year-round and perform physical labor.
11. Strong focus on safety practices and attention to detail.
12. Availability to work rotational weekends and holidays.
