Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Assistant to the Category Manager to join our team at Laura Canada. As a key member of our buying team, you will provide critical support to the Category Manager in managing the merchandise buying process, from analysis and reporting to procurement and inventory management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Category Manager in managing OTB (Open-to-Buy) by class/supplier on an ongoing basis.
  • Provide monthly and seasonal analysis of the business to support planning and decision-making.
  • Support the creation of Storyboards and Purchase Orders, as well as execute modifications and follow up on repeats.
  • Maintain professional relationships with vendors and execute Re-SKU's and recalls as needed.
  • Review Style Cards and V-listings weekly to monitor performance and recommend actions to the Category Manager.
  • Follow up on delivery and shipping of orders, and report any delays or merchandise issues to the Category Manager.
  • Communicate with Quality Assurance and Fit Departments as required, and follow up with Production Teams and vendors to resolve quality control issues.
  • Respond to store requests in a timely manner, and coordinate with vendors and stores to obtain samples for Marketing and Product Knowledge materials.
Requirements
  • Related industry experience equivalent required.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
  • Good knowledge of merchandising systems (BI, Momentis).
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and work under pressure.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Fluency in English, with the ability to communicate with out-of-province suppliers.
