Assistant to the Category Manager

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Assistant to the Category Manager to support the buying process and daily activities of our Category Manager team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Buying Support:
    • Assist the Category Manager in managing Over-the-Board (OTB) by class/supplier on an ongoing basis.
    • Provide the Category Manager with monthly and seasonal analysis of the business for planning purposes.
    • Create Storyboards and Purchase Orders, and execute modifications as needed.
    • Follow up on repeats for the Category Manager in a timely manner, including inquiries about availability, discount, and deliveries.
    • Maintain professional relationships with vendors.
    • Execute Re-SKU's and recalls.
  • Daily Management:
    • Review Style Cards or V-listing weekly to monitor performance of each style and recommend actions to the Category Manager.
    • Follow up on delivery and shipping of orders and report any delays or merchandise issues to the Category Manager.
    • Communicate with Quality Assurance and Fit Departments as needed on quality control issues and approvals in Pivot 88, and follow up with Production Teams and vendors to resolve any quality control issues.
    • Respond to store requests in a timely manner, including missing UPC codes and special orders.
    • Call vendors/stores/distribution centers for samples for Marketing and Product Knowledge materials, and prepare/organize all swatches, books, and samples under the Category Manager's direction.
    • Follow up with vendors to obtain requested TOP samples that require approval.
    • Manage and organize samples.
    • Organize and file documents.

Qualifications:

  • Related industry equivalent required.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
  • Good knowledge of merchandising systems (BI, Momentis).
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and work under pressure.
  • Ability to work without supervision.
  • Ability to communicate with out-of-province suppliers in English.
