Job Summary
We are seeking a Substitute Teacher to join our team. As a Substitute Teacher, you will be responsible for developing and implementing individualized educational programs for small groups of students. You will work closely with our interdisciplinary team to ensure that our students receive the best possible education and support.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized educational programs for small groups of students
- Work closely with the interdisciplinary team to ensure that our students receive the best possible education and support
- Provide direction and supervision to Instructional Assistants to ensure that services provided are individualized, developmentally and age appropriate
- Assist with planning and implementing processes that allow the healthcare needs and educational/developmental needs of students to blend their functions
- Collaborate with community members and other school divisions as needed to ensure that the educational needs of non-resident students are met
Requirements
- An undergraduate degree in education
- Certified as a teacher by the Manitoba Department of Education and Training
- Formal training in special education is an asset
- Previous experience teaching students with developmental/intellectual disabilities, as a special education teacher, resource teacher or regular classroom teacher
- Previous experience in an interdisciplinary school environment
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a participatory team approach
- Current knowledge concerning theory and practice relevant to the education of persons with developmental/intellectual disabilities
