Position Overview:
Brandt is seeking a highly skilled Senior Traffic Manager to oversee our international Traffic Department. This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation of all carrier evaluations, providing insights on pending insurance claims, and delivering analytical support to the Traffic Department. The Senior Traffic Manager will be instrumental in managing international logistics activities and collaborating with overseas shipping teams, while also negotiating contracts with various service providers, including freight forwarders and customs brokers. Effective communication with all stakeholders is essential to guarantee the compliant, efficient, and cost-effective execution of shipments, thereby exceeding customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Negotiate contracts for all trade routes with freight forwarding partners.
- Assess performance metrics, freight costs, and communication effectiveness of forwarding agents.
- Develop strategies to ensure timely deliveries and select carriers that provide optimal value.
- Establish and maintain robust relationships with freight forwarders and customs agents.
- Formulate long-term agreements to streamline freight operations and negotiate budgets for departmental use.
- Support and manage the Setup and Setup teams.
- Collaborate with purchasing and manufacturing to align shipment timelines with market realities.
- Oversee carrier evaluations, ensuring compliance with cargo insurance and other insurance prerequisites.
- Identify and resolve issues in the traffic booking process, escalating persistent challenges to the Director of Traffic.
- Review outstanding insurance claims and incidents involving carriers and Brandt locations, providing recommendations for swift resolutions.
- Conduct ongoing analyses to establish reliable performance metrics for suppliers.
- Evaluate all Less Than Truckload (LTL) and courier services to determine the best overall value for Brandt.
- Represent the Traffic Department in cross-functional projects within the organization.
- Assist with freight booking as necessary.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
- Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
Required Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or equivalent professional experience.
- 3 to 5+ years of managerial experience in logistics or supply chain operations.
- Familiarity with Customs, DOT, and international shipping regulations is advantageous.
- Proficient in ERP systems, TMS, and MS Office software, particularly Excel.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
