Overview:
The Human Resources Specialist will work under the direction of the Chief Administrative Officer, delivering comprehensive human resource services while ensuring adherence to Workplace Health and Safety regulations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

• Completion of secondary education or equivalent.
• Post-Secondary Diploma/Certificate in Human Resources Management (other combinations of education and experience may be considered).
• Strong knowledge of Employment Standards, Human Rights Legislation, Labour Code, Workplace Health and Safety, and other pertinent laws and regulations.
• Exceptional interpersonal abilities, focusing on effective communication and conflict resolution.
• Capacity to function both collaboratively and independently.
• Commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality.
• Experience with Collective Agreements is advantageous.
• Successful completion of Criminal Records Check and Vulnerable Persons Check.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Guide and assist management and personnel in handling employment issues, including progressive discipline, grievances, performance evaluations, investigations, and compliance with Workplace Health and Safety standards.
• Oversee recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes for new hires across various departments (refer to job description for additional details).
• Lead the creation and assessment of job descriptions, performance evaluations, and analysis of HR metrics.
• Propose, develop, schedule, and monitor training and development initiatives.
• Offer guidance and support to Department Heads to ensure compliance with legislation, collective agreements, organizational policies, and Workplace Safety and Health regulations.
• Manage assigned projects by researching relevant information, analyzing data collected, and preparing recommendations for the Chief Administrative Officer's review.
• Engage in emergency response activities in alignment with the Town Emergency Measures Plan.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (some overtime may be necessary)
• Dynamic office environment with rapidly changing tasks and priorities.

COMPENSATION: The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary ranging from $70,000 to $80,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
