Work Description: The Residential Design Technician is a vital member of the design team for Taggart Group of Companies. This role focuses on obtaining permits, preparing detailed construction drawings, and providing essential support throughout the housing project lifecycle.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to create precise drawings for various house types and projects.
  • Coordinate the permit application process with relevant authorities, ensuring timely submissions and adherence to regulations.
  • Develop comprehensive residential working drawings that meet industry standards and client specifications.
  • Generate site plans and consolidate all construction-related information into clear and organized documents.
  • Manage city permit applications, meticulously tracking deadlines and progress.
  • Review design drawings for accuracy and compliance with building codes and project requirements.
  • Coordinate documentation for construction teams, ensuring seamless project execution.

Statement of Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Architectural Technology or a related Technician program is required.
  • Proven experience working with AutoCAD and Revit design software.
  • Prior work experience in drafting, particularly within the residential home building sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Ontario Building Code (OBC) Part 9.
  • Excellent communication skills in English; French language proficiency is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications.

Work Environment:

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet strict deadlines.
  • Extended periods of sitting or standing at a workstation.
  • Potential for overtime hours during peak project phases.
