The Alberta Health Services is seeking a skilled Nurse Practitioner to join our Corrections Health team. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan, utilizing advanced practice nursing competencies to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan, integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine.
- Utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems.
- Collaborate with the Corrections Health Services Manager and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans that meet the unique needs of our patient population.
- Conduct assessments, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients.
- Develop and implement education programs to promote health and wellness among patients and staff.
- Participate in research and quality improvement initiatives to advance the field of corrections health.
Requirements:
- Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program and a minimum of master's degree.
- Registration with CRNA on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in corrections health or a similar setting.
- Knowledge of healthcare systems and policies.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
