Position Overview

The role of Quality Assurance and Field Service Specialist is critical within Mine Shaft Systems.

This position acts as a technical consultant to external clients regarding all post-sales operations.

Key Responsibilities

·Under the guidance of the Quality/Field Service Manager, the daily tasks of the Quality Assurance/Field Service Technician encompass, but are not limited to:

·Providing project guidance for installations at client locations.

·Conducting Quality Control inspections of materials and equipment both in-house and at supplier and customer sites.

·Evaluating parts and equipment, implementing corrective and preventive measures.

·Diagnosing issues and proposing repair solutions.

·Offering advice on equipment repairs, upgrades, operations, and maintenance.

·Delivering detailed feedback to the Engineering Department regarding potential product design enhancements.

·Collaborating with the Customer Service Department as necessary.

·Documenting successes and challenges in the operation of FLS's systems and equipment, providing records for future analysis.

·Preparing progress and status reports.

·Conducting technical training and offering technical support to clients.

·Performing pre-sales and post-sales equipment inspections to ensure compliance with specifications, drawings, and purchase order requirements.

·Executing receiving, in-process, and final inspections at suppliers.

·Providing feedback to the Engineering Department when discrepancies are identified during manufacturing.

·Participating in project management meetings as required.

·Expediting various types of contracts with suppliers.

·Fostering ongoing business relationships with clients to secure future opportunities.

·Promoting a culture of safety for oneself and the team, including those affected by the company's operational activities.

The responsibilities outlined above are not exhaustive and may be modified at management's discretion.

Qualifications

·Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

·Strong understanding of welding, machining, assembly, and painting processes, with the capability to read, comprehend, and interpret engineering drawings, including GD&T, specifications, and standards.

·Proficient knowledge of visual weld defect identification and inspection techniques, along with a solid understanding of NDT methods (LPI/MPI/UT).

·A technologist diploma in Welding, Materials, or Mechanical Engineering Technology, accompanied by seven to ten years of QA/QC experience in heavy industry.

·Proficient in using computers to generate inspection reports, NCR/CAR reports, and job status updates.

·Plans and executes inspections in accordance with QMS requirements, ensuring compliance with ISO 9001/14001/45001 standards.

·Adept understanding of quality concepts applicable to low volume/engineered-to-order manufacturing environments.

·Willingness to work overtime as necessary.

The Quality Assurance and Field Service Specialist position requires adaptability to various task execution methods while engaging with individuals.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for interaction with internal and external clients. This role necessitates regular travel to client locations and/or fieldwork.

Work Environment & Travel Requirements

·Work will be conducted from the company's office, with a customer base primarily located throughout Canada and the USA.

·Regular travel will be required, necessitating the maintenance of a valid passport. The company will cover travel-related expenses, including accommodation and meal allowances, in accordance with its travel and expense policies.

·This position is highly visible within FLSmidth and involves significant interaction with FLSmidth clients. A mechanical understanding of underground mining equipment, such as mine hoists, shaft conveyances, rope attachments, sheaves, and ore loading stations, is essential.

Working Hours

·Standard working hours are 40 hours per week, typically from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, or as agreed upon with your manager.
