Job Summary

The Region of Peel is seeking a skilled and compassionate Spiritual Care Provider to join our team at Sheridan Villa Long Term Care Centre. As an independent contractor, you will provide spiritual services to residents and clients, working collaboratively with our multidisciplinary care team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide approximately 30 hours of spiritual care services per month, with flexible hours to be agreed upon by both parties.
  • Develop and implement a spiritual care and religious care program, including worship and ecumenical services.
  • Provide individual and group spiritual programs, including pastoral support and grief and bereavement support.
  • Liaise with community faith leaders to develop a pastoral care committee.
  • Ensure residents' spiritual and religious needs are met, including support for preferred observances and affiliations.
  • Participate in centre committees, such as the Pastoral Care Committee and Palliative Care Committee.
  • Demonstrate a person-centred approach to service delivery and work collaboratively with the care team.
  • Complete necessary documentation and maintain accurate records.

Qualifications

  • Member in good standing of the Canadian Association for Pastoral Practice and Education (CAPPE).
  • Degree in Theology or Divinity (asset).
  • Proof of General Liability Insurance ($2,000,000).
  • Minimum 2-3 years experience in a related long term care/retirement environment and/or experience working with older adults.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary care team.

Working Conditions

This is a one-year contract position, with potential for extension. The successful candidate will be responsible for their own remittances, deductions, and contributions, including those required by Canada Revenue Agency, Canada Pension Plan, Employment Insurance, and Workplace Safety authorities.
