Job Summary:

The Community Engagement Coordinator is a key member of the Baycrest Academy for Research and Education (BARE) Community Engagement Team. Reporting to the Director of Scientific and Clinical Development, this role is responsible for promoting the services of BARE, conducting in-person and virtual Brain Health Workshops, and helping older adults gain early access to free memory evaluations and brain health services through research collaborators and partnerships.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify and create community funnels consisting of centres appropriate for facilitating Brain Health Workshops within targeted regions, providing accurate information on address, contact person, current programs running, distance to research site(s), phone number, email, ages, and other relevant information.
  • Book and connect with centres to schedule in-person and virtual Brain Health Workshops within the assigned region and timeframe.
  • Market and provide resources to maximize total attendance within each in-person and/or virtual session, utilizing various dissemination channels and following up with centres to ensure sufficient sign-ups.
  • Facilitate Brain Health Workshops virtually and in-person at various centres as scheduled, representing BARE professionally and providing older adults with take-home information on their brain health.
  • Educate older adults on current brain health issues and provide them with instruction on accessing resources available on the Cogniciti and Baycrest website, ensuring they understand that content is routinely updated with current findings from Baycrest.
  • Recruit older adults for local clinical research studies conducted by BARE's clients, performing virtual recruiting through Cogniciti's Brain Health Registry and sending out recruitment notices to brain health registry members fitting inclusion criteria for specified studies.
  • Report and track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as centres contacted, scheduled, signup numbers, attendees at each in-person and virtual brain health workshop, and completed assessments, accurately inputting these into the BARE and CRM Databases.
  • Site Coordinate and manage follow-up activities with respective clinical research sites to understand and update the status of each BARE referral, outlining, agreeing, and following BARE's referral process with each research or trial site, ensuring study materials, protocols, and ethics are within compliance prior to recruitment.
Qualifications:
  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Social/Behavioural Science, Clinical Research, Gerontology, Public Health, Health Promotion, Cognitive Science, Neuroscience, or a related discipline.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification is an asset.
  • Minimum of one year experience working in community outreach.
  • Ability to proficiently organize and implement community engagement activities within an allocated budget.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the challenges and experiences of older adults from diverse backgrounds.
  • Exceptional ability to engage and communicate to groups of people, tailoring communication to suit a specific target group or age range.
