Become a Champion for Student Success
The York Region District School Board is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to fill the role of Making Connections Worker. This full-time, permanent position will play a vital role in supporting student wellbeing and fostering a positive learning environment.
Reporting to the Clinical Team Lead, you will collaborate with school teams and Family School Liaison Counsellors to implement evidence-based mental health programs and early intervention strategies within schools. Your primary focus will be on empowering students, families, and staff through Social Emotional Learning (SEL) initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement SEL curriculum and evidence-based mental health programs in classroom settings.
- Collaborate with school staff to integrate SEL strategies effectively.
- Empower students, youth, and families by developing essential skills for positive relationships within the school, home, and community.
- Facilitate access to community resources by providing referrals, scheduling meetings, and coordinating transportation as needed.
- Advocate for families by liaising with school administration and community partners to ensure appropriate support and services are received.
- Coordinate crisis intervention efforts by assisting families in accessing necessary services during challenging times.
Qualifications:
We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a positive and enthusiastic attitude. The ideal candidate possesses excellent interpersonal skills, a passion for building relationships, and a commitment to student wellbeing.
Preference will be given to individuals with:
- A related post-secondary degree or diploma in psychology, social work, or a similar field.
- At least 2 years of experience working in mental health or health/human services.
- Experience in an educational setting with children and adolescents.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working with community agencies and organizations.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
