Role Overview

The Cloud Infrastructure Engineer is tasked with the upkeep and enhancement of the infrastructure that supports and delivers core business applications and workflows on a global scale.

This role encompasses a wide range of technologies across different business units, collaborating with various teams to establish relationships that ensure a stable and efficient operational platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deeply analyze technical details while maintaining a comprehensive perspective for managing major incidents and delivering end-to-end solutions.
  • Lead and coordinate a task force of stakeholders across multiple technical teams to achieve permanent resolutions for significant incidents.
  • Balance day-to-day server operations (70%) with project engagement (30%), adapting as necessary based on organizational requirements.
  • Contribute as a member of our global server operations team, responsible for managing and supporting services hosted across multiple regions within the Microsoft Azure environment.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation, collaborating with engineers across US and European time zones.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a blend of accountability, creativity, and ambition, employing innovative thinking to devise solutions. A strong background in Microsoft Azure cloud offerings in a systems engineering and operations context, primarily focusing on infrastructure and systems technologies, is essential.

Experience in designing and implementing Azure-native solutions to minimize reliance on third-party tools is highly valued. Proficiency in production server engineering and operational support in a predominantly Windows environment (80%) with some exposure to various Linux distributions (20%) is required.

Strong scripting skills utilizing tools and languages such as PowerShell, YAML, KQL, bash, JSON, and Ansible are necessary for automating manual processes and enhancing efficiencies within the standard operating environment.

Attention to detail, understanding of requirements, and adherence to established controls are critical for success in this role. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required to effectively engage with both technical and non-technical audiences.

Experience in supporting and maintaining DevSecOps pipelines while utilizing Agile methodologies for cloud-native applications is essential. The ability to collaborate with the architecture team to present new ideas, design solutions, and oversee their implementation is also necessary.

Additionally, candidates should be adept at creating and maintaining configuration, operational, and control documentation, and have prior experience working with Security and Compliance teams to provide evidence of compliance with operational controls.

Finally, the ability to identify inefficiencies, propose and implement standards and automation to simplify processes, and manage operational costs associated with Microsoft Azure is vital.
