Position Overview

The Radiologic Technologist plays a crucial role in the healthcare system, providing essential imaging services that assist in patient diagnosis and treatment.

Educational Requirements
  • Completion of a College or CEGEP program
  • Specialization in Medical Radiologic Technology or Radiation Therapy
Work Environment
  • Radiological laboratories
  • Hospitals or medical clinics
Key Responsibilities
  • Communicate and explain imaging procedures to patients
  • Document and process the results of imaging examinations
  • Implement radiation safety protocols
  • Conduct basic quality assurance checks on imaging and processing equipment
  • Maintain accurate patient records and data
  • Ensure patient care and monitoring throughout the imaging process
  • Operate ultrasound equipment to capture and document images
  • Coordinate activities with various departments
  • Perform administrative tasks including scheduling and record keeping
  • Compile and verify necessary documentation such as applications and permits
  • Assist patients by providing information and care during procedures
  • Gather medical histories from patients and relevant parties
Certifications and Licenses
  • Certification from a provincial or territorial association is required
