Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Respiratory Therapist to join our dynamic team in the Medicine/Respirology Unit at North York General Hospital. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in promoting patient and family-centered care, collaborating with healthcare providers, and providing exceptional respiratory care to patients and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in interprofessional healthcare teams to provide respiratory care to adult, pediatric, and newborn patients in various units, including Critical Care, ED, Inpatient Units, Labour & Delivery, and Operating Room.
  • Provide ventilation management, weaning, and discontinuation, as well as perform airway management, including intubations and tracheostomy tube insertions.
  • Assist at high-risk deliveries, perform neonatal resuscitation, and administer pharmaceutical substances in respiratory care.
  • Perform related diagnostic tests, including procurement and interpretation of arterial blood gases, and assist with bronchoscopies.
  • Supervise, teach, and evaluate students as assigned by clinical coordinator, and educate patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare professionals in respiratory care.
  • Demonstrate the ability to lift and position patients and related equipment.
Qualifications
  • Diploma/Degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited institution.
  • Registration with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification, required.
  • Current Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification, required.
  • Current NRP certification, required.
  • Experience in adult intubation and adult radial arterial line insertion.
  • Membership with C.S.R.T. and R.T.S.O. preferred.
  • Experience in neonatal intubation preferred.
