The Team
The Justice Health and Revenue Group comprises a dedicated team of legal professionals providing essential guidance to the Ministry of Attorney General and various client groups. This team is recognized for managing a wide array of cases and intricate legal projects, significantly influencing policy development. They collaborate closely with ministry clients and other legal specialists to create a meaningful impact.

The Role
In this capacity, you will deliver expert legal counsel to ministry clients, aiding in the formulation of policies, programs, and legislative initiatives. You will engage with complex and distinctive cases within a supportive and cooperative team environment. A considerable portion of your responsibilities will involve addressing confidential and sensitive issues, ensuring you remain at the forefront of legal advancements. This position is ideal for individuals who are committed to making a positive difference through their legal acumen.

Qualifications:
  • Must hold membership in the Law Society of British Columbia in good standing or be immediately eligible for call to the Law Society of British Columbia with relevant legal experience corresponding to 6 to 11 years of practice.
  • Proven experience in handling complex legal issues and providing counsel to government entities on legal matters.
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
Preference may be given to candidates with:
  • Experience in legal pluralism.
  • Familiarity with the policy and legislative development process.
  • Experience collaborating with justice sector partners.
  • Knowledge in statutory interpretation, administrative, or regulatory law.

About this Position:
This role is based out of the designated location. Flexible work arrangements are available; this position may allow for remote work several days a week, subject to an approved telework agreement. An eligibility list may be created to fill future permanent or temporary vacancies. A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required. Employees of the BC Public Service must reside in BC at the time of employment.

The salary listed does not include the additional 7% Overtime Shift Standby (OSS) provision that can be taken as time off or salary on an annual basis, which is in addition to four (4) weeks of annual leave.
