Role Overview:
As a Quality Control and Training Manager for our BC Region office, you will play a pivotal role in our operations:
  • Contract Review: Analyze prime contracts and subcontracts to ensure compliance with specifications and quality requirements.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct visual inspections, monitor processes, and document results in accordance with project specifications and Inspection Testing Plans (ITPs).
  • Documentation Management: Gather and organize quality turnover documentation effectively.
  • Technical Liaison: Serve as a point of contact between craft personnel, staff, and the quality manager, providing necessary technical support.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Identify and analyze root causes of nonconformance reports (NCRs) and communicate findings to the quality and project teams.
  • Quality Planning: Develop and implement project quality plans (ITPs) that align with project specifications.
  • Coordination: Actively engage in planning and coordinating Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) activities alongside construction efforts.
  • Team Leadership: Lead quality team meetings as required to ensure alignment and progress.
  • Client Liaison: Interact with clients' field QA/QC representatives, third-party testing agencies, and trade contractor quality personnel.
  • Supplier Compliance: Ensure that suppliers and vendors meet project specifications, including the verification of delivered materials.

Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:
  • A craftsperson certificate or a bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 7 years of proven experience in quality control and/or the construction industry, with supervisory and leadership experience preferred.
  • A solid understanding of the construction industry, including familiarity with planning and sequencing concepts.
  • The ability to identify quality risks associated with projects.
  • Experience with internal project-quality assessments.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and time-management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • Conflict resolution skills, with the ability to lead and resolve disputes with trade contractors and supervisors.
  • Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) level II or III certification and Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) designation.
  • Advanced proficiency in quality computer applications and a solid understanding of Microsoft Office Suite.
