Position Overview

The Facilities Operations Manager plays a crucial role in enhancing community development by ensuring the availability of safe and affordable housing. This position is integral to the management of capital projects and maintenance services, focusing on improving the living conditions for residents across Manitoba.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert technical guidance to senior management and oversee procurement and property services.
  • Manage capital projects and insurance claims effectively, ensuring timely completion and adherence to budgetary constraints.
  • Supervise maintenance personnel and coordinate with contractors for specialized maintenance tasks, including renovations and technical repairs.
  • Ensure minimal disruption to tenants during maintenance and installation activities.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Possession of a full Class 5 Drivers' Licence without restrictions and the ability to use a personal vehicle as necessary.
  • Provision of a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search.
  • Completion of Child Abuse Registry Check, Adult Abuse Registry Check, and Prior Contact Check.
  • Willingness to travel frequently within the community and occasionally throughout the province, including potential air travel.
  • Availability for standby duties during evenings and weekends on a rotating basis.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • A post-secondary degree or certificate in commercial construction or a related field, with consideration for equivalent combinations of education and experience.
  • Proven experience in coordinating and planning all phases of construction and facility-related projects, including scope definition, budgeting, scheduling, and implementation.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise staff effectively.
  • Experience in reviewing construction documentation and interpreting technical drawings.
  • Strong customer service skills with diverse client groups, including elected officials and technical staff.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet competing deadlines.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear correspondence.
  • Knowledge of current Building Codes, legislation, and best practices in Green construction.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster client engagement and participation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Desired:

  • Experience in design, including proficiency in computer-aided drafting software such as AutoCAD.
