About the Role

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy as a Wind Service Technician. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our wind turbines, providing exceptional customer service, and contributing to the growth and success of our business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide site-level support to the Site Manager, ensuring the efficient operation of wind turbines and resolving any technical issues that may arise.
  • Report any health, safety, and environmental (HSE) violations to the Site Manager immediately, ensuring a safe working environment for all personnel.
  • Drive continuous process improvements, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Conduct training assessments, both technical and non-technical, to ensure that team members have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • Support the Site Manager in performance reviews for technicians, providing constructive feedback and guidance to help them grow and develop in their roles.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on wind turbines, ensuring that they are operating at optimal levels and minimizing downtime.
  • Troubleshoot errors on wind turbines, using your technical expertise to quickly identify and resolve issues.
  • Prepare a plan of the day (POD) and assign tasks to the team, working closely with the Site Manager to ensure that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Ensure that the site-level team is working safely, following all work instructions and procedures, and working efficiently to meet business objectives.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, providing excellent service and ensuring that their needs are met.
  • Perform downtime allocations as per the contract, as directed by the Site Manager, to ensure that all necessary work is completed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Submit all required documentation, including service checklists, work orders, time sheets, and expense reports, in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Evaluate human performance concerns and escalate them to the Site Manager, ensuring that all personnel are working safely and effectively.
  • Evaluate technical issues and escalate them to the Site Manager or directly communicate with first and second-level support teams, ensuring that all technical issues are resolved quickly and efficiently.
  • Perform site inventory as required, ensuring that all necessary materials and supplies are available to support business operations.
  • Order consumables and other office supplies as needed, or as directed by the Site Manager, to ensure that all necessary resources are available to support business operations.
  • Ensure that all parts are properly packaged, labeled, and shipped off-site, as required.
  • Be self-motivated, able to think quickly, and address issues as they arise, working independently and efficiently to meet business objectives.

Requirements

  • Minimum two years of wind experience with a high school diploma or three plus years of wind experience with an associate's or trade school degree/certification.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft software suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to climb to heights up to 250 feet or greater and work in confined spaces.
  • Must meet body weight restrictions of 265 pounds or less as required by safety regulations.
  • Must pass a physical administered by a medical practitioner to ensure ability to safely perform job functions and meet physical demands of the position.
  • Must have a clean driving record and pass pre-hire drug screening.
  • Management and/or team leadership experience preferred.
  • An understanding and commitment to a safe work culture.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Conflict resolution experience.
  • Contract management experience.
  • Relevant work experience in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, maintenance/troubleshooting, industrial, or automotive industries.
  • SAP experience preferred.
