Position Overview:

The Nordex Group is seeking a skilled Wind Turbine Service Technician to join their team in Alberta, Canada. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong mechanical aptitude and a passion for working at heights.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on wind turbines, including assembly, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Work in a fast-paced team environment to ensure that wind turbines are operating efficiently and safely.
  • Conduct and review safety analyses of potential electrical and mechanical hazards in wind turbines, switch rooms, and O&M buildings.
  • Support Root Cause Analyses to determine equipment failure and reasons for failures.
  • Document all maintenance and repair activities in a professional and accurate manner.
  • Participate in an on-call schedule and be willing to work overtime, holidays, weekends, and on short notice during planned/unplanned/emergency site outages.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Certification or degree in wind, technical, or engineering field preferred.
  • 0-1 year wind experience for Level 1, 2-4 years for Level 2, and 4+ years for Level 3 Technician.
  • Able to work independently in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Ability to move and manipulate up to 50 pounds, climb vertical ladders, and work at heights above 300 feet.
  • Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, and adverse and extreme weather conditions.
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record required.

Working Conditions:

This position requires field work and is in a wind farm environment, primarily during normal business hours. However, the site operates 24/7, 365 days a year, which will include rotating shifts, overtime, and exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust, and humidity.
