Job Summary:
The Associate Director of Care is a key member of the Extendicare Canada Inc. leadership team, responsible for developing and implementing nursing services that meet the needs of our residents and align with our organization's goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Director of Care to develop the nursing philosophy, statement of purpose, goals, and objectives for nursing services.
- Plan, direct, develop, coordinate, implement, and evaluate resident care services to ensure high-quality care and a safe, effective, and efficient work environment.
- Oversee the financial and human resource management aspects of the Nursing department, ensuring effective use of resources and compliance with organizational policies.
- Maintain a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community, and healthcare-related disciplines to ensure effective provision of care delivery in the home.
- Hire, direct, supervise, evaluate, promote, or terminate care staff, ensuring a skilled and dedicated team.
- Ensure quality care and a safe, effective, and efficient work environment, promoting resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Assume responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in their absence, demonstrating leadership and expertise.
- Work in a position of trust with vulnerable adults (residents), upholding the highest standards of care and respect.
Requirements:
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience working as a Registered Nurse in the long-term care sector.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience working as a Registered Nurse in a managerial or supervisory capacity in a healthcare setting.
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the applicable Provincial licensing body is required.
- Bachelor or Master of Nursing preferred.
- Possession of strong motivational, team-building, and time management skills.
- Must be computer literate in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
