Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced law enforcement professional to join our team at CP. As an Experienced Law Enforcement Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining public safety through enforcement and education, as well as preventing and detecting crime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enforce Federal, Provincial, and municipal laws, statutes, and by-laws
  • Conduct criminal and collision investigations
  • Respond to emergency incidents and calls for service
  • Protect railway assets, operations, and personnel
  • Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies during investigations and joint enforcement operations
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures
  • Plan, manage, and prioritize workload, and conduct general and directed patrols
  • Travel on assignments, respond to incidents, and participate in training within the Province of AB
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and prosecution files, and provide court testimony
  • Manage and escort prisoners
  • Work flexible hours, including weekends and statutory holidays

Requirements

  • Be a Canadian citizen
  • Have a High school diploma or GED
  • Post-Secondary education is an asset
  • Have completed and passed full basic recruit training with a recognized police service in Canada
  • Be a First-class police constable in good standing with a recognized Canadian federal, provincial, municipal, or First Nations police service
  • Have knowledge of the Canadian Criminal Justice System
  • Have knowledge of enforcement under Provincial Statutes
  • Have community involvement experience
  • Have basic computer skills
  • Be able to pass a fitness test (PARE, POPAT, or PREP)
  • Have a valid driver's license for the province in which you are employed
  • Be qualified in First Aid, CPR, and AED
  • Meet CPPS Firearms and Use of Force Standards
  • Pass a psychological evaluation
  • Pass a polygraph exam
  • Have a clean discipline record without McNeil decisions
