FortisBC is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as an Equipment Operator Distribution Assistant. This role is responsible for assisting in the installation, maintenance, and operation of the Gas Distribution system.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist in the installation of distribution pipes, fittings, and related components
- Carry out repairs and alterations to existing mains or services
- Operate rubber tire back-hoe and/or excavating equipment
- Learn welding and pipefitting skills
- Develop safety, customer service, and software application skills
- High school/Grade 12 graduation/GED
- Current Class 3 Driver's License with a safe driving record
- Underground utilities experience (gas, water, sewer) is an asset
- Demonstrated ability to proficiently operate a backhoe around underground utilities
- Mechanical aptitude
- Demonstrated safe work habits and adherence to safety regulations and practices
- Demonstrated ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Initiative and sense of responsibility
- Considerable walking, bending, and lifting
- Exposure to all weather conditions
- Preference will be given to applicants with experience operating rubber tire backhoe and/or excavating equipment in shallow construction
