About the Role:

This position is based out of a diagnostic and treatment centre and is responsible for providing and performing high-quality services for clients of Diagnostic Imaging during MRI examinations. This is done in an effective, efficient, and safe manner. As a member of the MRI team, this position is responsible for working all shifts and on-call as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce and record magnetic resonance images for interpretation by a Radiologist or Cardiologist for the purpose of diagnosis and tracking of disease and pathology.
  • Produce high-quality diagnostic MRI images as ordered by a Physician, prepare and position patients for examination, review patient history, explain procedures, respond to the physical and psychological needs of patients throughout the scanning procedure, and maintain MRI equipment.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and timely diagnosis and treatment of patients.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with patients, families, and healthcare teams to provide exceptional patient care.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest medical imaging technologies and techniques to provide high-quality services.

Requirements:

  • Completion of a diploma from an accredited Medical Resonance Imaging (MRI) Program or completion of a certificate from an accredited MRI Technologist program plus a diploma from an accredited Program in Medical Radiology, Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Ultrasound), Nuclear Medicine, or Radiation Therapy.
  • Active or eligible for registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT).
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
  • Member in good standing and current registration/eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT).
  • Ability to work confidently, independently, and within collaborative partnerships/teams.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to assume responsibility.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to effectively liaison with various professionals.
  • Perception, initiative, accountability, good judgment, and concern for detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to demonstrate tact and courtesy in dealing with patients, staff, and physicians.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in emergency situations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English.
  • Practices effective infection control and MRI safety techniques as applicable.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ACMDTT enhanced practice for Venipuncture and Medication Administration.
